CONFEDERATE COOK & BROTHER |
Cook & Brother Sword Bayonet from their New Orleans production. The blade is 22 inches long with an overall length of 26 3/4 inches. The blade is brown with moderate pitting. It has not been cleaned or sharpened. It will fit a standard Cook & Brother Rifle, either Athens or New Orleans production, however this variant is typically found with serial numbers of rifles from the New Orleans and early Athens production. When New Orleans fell, Cook & Brother managed to escape with their raw materials, parts on hand and unfinished parts. That was all transported to the Selma Arsenal where they assembled the last of the Alabama state contract. The remainder of parts were then transferred again the Athens, Georgia and were incorporated into the early Athens rifle. The serial number range of the Alabama contract runs from approximately from 800 to 1800. The serial number of this bayonet is 1193. That is the serial number of the gun it was mounted on and it is in the middle of the Alabama state contract with Cook & Brother. Price $2,950. Reduced $1,550 SOLD!!
PS: I have found a correct Cook & Brother Bayonet Adapter for this bayonet. I am going to throw it in with the purchase of the bayonet. These things are hard to find, they are unique but absolutely necessary if you want to mount a bayonet to a rifle.
